Introduction:

From a young age, music and the energy of the road have been central to my life. Growing up around sound systems, I developed a deep passion for the craft, eventually making my mark on the UK music scene. My journey has taken me from house parties in East London to national stages, radio airwaves, and now, Jersey, where I continue to share the music I love.

Background:

My introduction to the sound system culture began in 1979, at the age of twelve, inspired by my older brothers. By my mid-teens, I had co-founded Sapphire Sound and was playing at house parties across East London. As our reputation grew, we expanded to Hackney, Tottenham, and beyond. In 1981, we took over Sir Baron Sound System, marking a turning point in my musical journey.

Over the years, the sound evolved, with new members and different names, including Physical Rockers, Moves Studios, and Prize Guys Posse. After winning a major trophy at Night Moves in the late ’80s, we eventually parted ways. I later founded Cool Entertainers, which ran for ten years before merging with Santic, a powerhouse sound system that became a dominant force in the UK scene.

Career Highlights:

• National & International Performances: Played across the UK, from Nottingham and Coventry to Blackpool and Barry Island. Also performed at the St. Lucian Jazz Festival and Notting Hill Carnival alongside Massarama.
• Radio Career: Joined Stage FM in 1989 after a successful guest appearance. Later featured on Raw FM, Flames, and Fuzionlive before moving to Jersey.
• Notable Collaborations: Provided sound for Jean Adeybambo’s comeback show, hosted live performances by Victor Romero Evans and Janet Kay, and worked with Jeff Schumann at a Premier Noire Dance.
• Respected Industry Presence: Regularly played at legendary venues like All Nations, Granaries, Night Moves, and Maksims, working with promoters like Gerry Bascombe on major events, including annual New Year’s Eve dances.

Now, I continue my passion in Jersey, bringing soulful sounds to the airwaves on Souledout CI, staying true to the music that has shaped my journey.
